ROHM launches new road marking recycled resin
On July 23, Roma announced the launch of the recycled resin belt Gelu proTerra 465, which was applied to the cycling lanes in Darmstadt, Germany by SWARCO, a manufacturer of road marking systems. SWARCO has developed a new marking material using ROHM resin. At present, the two companies are jointly developing a variety of marking materials, aiming to produce them in the most environmentally friendly way through sustainable and recyclable raw materials. Rohm said that the Gelu series of products are used in road markings around the world, with excellent visibility and durability. For decades, with its long service life, Gelu marking has played an important role in improving the efficiency of resource utilization. In addition, the proTerra contains at least 30% recycled raw materials, which can significantly reduce the carbon dioxide footprint. To this end, Darmstadt plans to increase the proportion of bicycles in the mode of transportation from the current 20% to 1/3. Holger Tinz, head of marketing for Roma resins, said that Roma's sustainable development goals are: to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 30% by 2030; to achieve climate-neutral production by 2050. Therefore, Roma is very keen to see other cities and municipalities also promote the theme of sustainable development and make road marking systems more environmentally friendly and more widely used. André Peiter, head of SWARCO's Darmstadt project, said that the new material was a success in Darmstadt's project. The coating process was very smooth, the material cured extremely fast, and the riding lane could soon be reopened to cyclists.
