Sodium bisulfate, also known as acid sodium sulfate, is an inorganic compound, chemical formula for NaHSO4, white monoclinic crystal, hygroscopic, acidic aqueous solution, 0.1mol/L sodium bisulfate solution pH is about 1.4.
Chemical Properties
1. Salt attribute: acid salt of strong acid
2, acid and alkaline: the aqueous solution is acidic. Strong electrolyte, completely ionized, resulting in a strong acidic solution: NaHSO4 = Na H SO42-
Note: Hydrogen sulfate is not completely ionized and is a medium and strong acid. (Senior high school textbooks treat hydrogen sulfate as fully ionized)
Therefore, it can react with alkali: NaHSO4 NaOH = Na2SO4 H2O
3. It can undergo double decomposition reaction with weak acid salt: NaHSO4 NaHSO3 = Na2SO4 SO2 ↑ H2O
NaHSO4 NaHCO3 = Na2SO4 CO2 = H2O
Ionic equation: H SO42- HSO3-= SO2 ↑ H2O SO42-
H SO42- HCO3-= CO2 ↑ H2O SO42-
4. React with BaCl2 and Ba(OH)2: NaHSO4 BaCl2 = NaCl HCl BaSO4 ↓
NaHSO4 Ba(OH)2=NaOH H2O BaSO4↓
Involving ionic equation: SO42- Ba2 = BaSO4 ↓
H SO42- Ba2 OH-=BaSO4↓ H2O
If Ba(OH)2 is small, the equation is expressed as: 2H SO42- Ba2 2OH-= BaSO4 ↓ 2H2O [2]
